What is Knowing CERNies?
This project arises from a widespread problem: large companies and organizations do not know their workers, the people who shape them every day. And sometimes, among workers, we do not even know our colleagues beyond their professional careers. Since we have collided at CERN, let’s get to know each other!
Knowing CERNies is a transmedia journalism project, which aims:
- To close the gap between people working at CERN
- To meet the former CERNies and the metaCERNies
- To put together science and humanities
The project is based on interviews and made into podcasts and literary profiles. Both pieces are complementary, and through them you can explore the CERNies, exCERNies and metaCERNies life experiences.
What are the dreams of a CERNie? What do they miss most from their home countries? Where do they find beauty? What would they like to be when they grow up? Find it out here!
Who is behind this project?
Irene García Obrero is a journalist and a passionate philosopher project. When she was a child, her mom told her “living is trying”, and here she is.
Born in Orcasitas (Madrid) and grown up in Getafe, she now lives in a small French village, near the Franco-Swiss border. She has worked as a production assistant at Conecta FICTION 2 and as a correspondent at Agencia EFE’s bureau in Geneva.
She is a one woman band who loves writing, the Linklater filmography, zamburiñas, and the sound of the Atlantic Ocean when it barks.
